Welcome to the 19th Annual Maine Home, Remodeling and Garden Show

We are delighted to present this year’s Maine Home, Remodeling and Garden Show at the Cumberland County Civic Center, where it was born almost two decades ago. The doors will open at 10:00 am on Saturday and Sunday, February 7 & 8, 2009.

Our winter show is full of inspirational ideas for the home and garden. This year we are putting a special emphasis on green and energy efficient products and services, all designed to help consumers make informed decisions about their homes and gardens.

Exhibitors!

There are over 170 exhibitor booths at this year’s show offering consumers the opportunity to see the latest products and services on the market. Exhibitors include businesses such as: Castle Kitchens, The Closet Factory, Wintergreens Solariums, Mainely Tubs, Lindal Cedar Homes, Drafting Plus, Clarke Painting, Loranger Door & Windows, Gagne & Sons, Overhead Door, Northern Kitchens, Jaiden Landscaping and many, many more.

Meet the Chefs!

Returning again this year is the popular Meet the Chefs cooking series, taking place in our Viking Kitchen Studio, created by Castle Kitchens of Scarborough, Maine. Castle Kitchens has created yet another dynamic kitchen studio for our Meet the Chefs cooking series. Through special arrangements with Viking Appliances, Delia Incorporated, our kitchen area is equipped with the latest in Viking appliances, cookware and cutlery.

The 5th Annual Meet the Chefs series will again be hosted by Portland’s own Brenda Broder, owner of Amore Styles Salon in Portland. Brenda was featured in a story in the Portland Press Herald on Christmas cookies. Brenda’s clients at her salon always look forward to the amazing cookies baked by Brenda and her mother during Thanksgiving weekend for family and friends. We are delighted that Brenda will be returning to our studio kitchen as the emcee of the Meet the Chefs cooking series.

This year features our biggest line-up ever of amazing chefs, including the return of Chef Harding Smith, owner/chef of the Front Room Restaurant & Bar and, The Grill Room on Exchange Street in Portland. Also returning this year is Chef/Owner Rob Evans, of Hugo’s and DuckFat Restaurants both on Middle Street in Portland.

Notable first time participants include: Chef Bryan Dame of the Edge at The Inn at Ocean’s in Lincolnville – Chef Margaret Salt McLellan, Maine Lobster Chef of the Year 2008 – Chef Cheryl Lewis of Taco Land in Portland – chef Dave French of Gritty McDuff’s – Chef Johnny Robinson of Johnny’s Bistro and Bar in Falmouth and Dean Bingham, Co-Owner of Dean’sSweets in Portland.

Also joining our fabulous line-up are: Chef Chris Geer of Vignola Restaurant & Cinque Terre –- Chef Jason Kennedy of Black Tie Catering -– Chef Esau Crosby of Bath’s Solo Bistro -– Chef/Owner Rick Hirsch of the Damariscotta River Grill.

This year, we’re introducing three different kinds of food professionals to our “mix”... Melissa Rioux from Lakonia Greek Olive Oil of Saco; Dennis Sherman from

DennyMike's BBQ Sauces & Rubs in York; and Chef Christopher Bassett of Azure Café, Freeport using Cold River Vodka in one of their signature dishes. They’ll be demonstrating the use of their products in everyday cooking.

Raffle to Benefit Habitat For Humanity!

Our thanks to those who generously donated great prizes to this cause. Our featured prize is A 16” x 20” original watercolor “Children of Summer” donated by Freeport artist Joseph Cousins. His work is included in many corporate and private collections in the U.S. and abroad as well in several galleries throughout Maine. Our thanks to Mr. Cousins for suggesting this raffle to us. We are pleased to be able to support such a worthy cause!

Landscapers

K2 Landscaping, Inc of South Portland, ME in Center Count will once again WOW everyone….other landscapers this year include: Jaiden Landscaping, Inc. of Durham, ME; Storey’s Garden Center of Westbrook and Keystone Horticulturist of Portland.

Our exhibitors and sponsors have generously donated fabulous prizes for show goers. These drawings are open to everyone. No purchase is required and the winners do not need to be present at the drawing.

Seminars and Clinics!

Seminars and Clinics will be held throughout the day on Saturday and Sunday, including topics such as: Maximizing Space by getting more out of what you have – Solar Hot Water and Solar Electric Systems and Organic Lawn Care.

Brendon Augustine from Augustine Interiors will be talking about “Eco-friendly color trends for 2009….It’s Easy to be Green”…also schedule will be Steve Fennell from the Saco Solar Store and his presentation will be on “Solar Options”….an introduction to renewable energy systems that save you money.

The Home Depot will run clinics at their booths over both days of the show. This year, The Home Depot experts will show you “Conduct a Home Energy Audit Today”

Bring ‘em. (Your shopping bags) Regional artisans, purveyors of culinary delights, and vendors of garden accessories and home decoratives fill the quest of shoppers who are looking for terrific gifts for their own homes or great giving for friends and family. Fill your shopping bags with goodies from candles to candy, pickles to pottery, stained glass to wrought iron, and everything in between and beyond.

The 2009 Maine Home, Remodeling and Garden Show is at the Cumberland County Civic Center from 10-7 on Saturday, February 7 and 10-5 on Sunday, February 8. Admission is $7.00 for Adults and $5.00 for Seniors (over 65). Children under 6 are always free.
